Duh-bama news

Here's an interesting tidbit from the White House visitor news. Obama is pro-abortion. (And when he was in the IL legislature, he would not support legislation that protected fetuses that "survived" abortion attempts.) Yet a woman MUST register an unborn child (which I must remind you is termed a "baby" not a fetus - kind of suggesting a right) and include the gender, if known. Weird. And kind of hypocritical.

I wrote about Dinner with Obama and brought up how it seemed inappropriate to have this "campaign" function at the White House - as well as kind of illegal maybe to essentially sell lottery tickets for this. No one else was talking about this. Then SUDDENLY its Dinner with George Clooney at his house. Well, not to be outdone, Mitt Romney is having a "Lunch with Mitt" thing. But at the bottom of HIS email, it says "No purchase necessary." I think this is not only interesting (since no one but me was talking about this) but makes a point. Obama was asking people to "purchase" this chance to eat dinner with a sitting President at the White House. Selling the office. Pretty sad.

And for you twit-wits, who would say "uh, da President does those fund raiser dinner things" and I shouldn't even be making a deal about it. But you see here is the difference. Obam does not sell those tickets. And it is a ticket, like going to the movies or something, and not a lottery / raffle / etc. Someone else is doing a fund raiser and the President uses his position as the head of the Party to be there and endorse this person the dinner is for. Even it its for himself. But to sell these raffle tickets, gambling, and use the White House (which does not BELONG to him, it BELONGS to us) is pretty much an abuse of office.

This item is more about the duh-bama supporters than anyone. The President's recent "gay marriage" announcement - which followed the weird and creepy Biden "finger movements" speech - is all about politics. His numbers were slipping even after he denied all blame on everything from the economy to the wet spot on the carpet (just kidding - but he would deny it if it would help him get re-elected). So he did something his handlers told him - openly and loudly support gay marriage. And it did.

From CBS News: "Obama's campaign has declined to say how much it has collected since the announcement but some staffers have asked supporters to give money as a way of expressing their approval."

Anyone who can't see that this is politics plain and simple and they are being used, in my humble opinion, is an absolute idiot.

Don't get me wrong, they all do it. Pander. But since this is "duh-bama news" and not "duh-lected official news" I am just concentrating on this senseless dolts.

But you know, you can agree or disagree with me and it makes no real difference to me. So long as it is you - and not some spin doctor speaking THROUGH you - doing the agreeing or disagreeing. I want you to THINK FOR YOURSELVES, STOP BEING SHEEP and AVOID THE SPIN! Anyway, this is just me, Thinking out Loud.

Hate beating a dead horse but . . .

Okay, they are still at it. Therefore, so am I.

Another email about women not being included in the healthcare thing. This time from Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY). She cries out that "She was there" in her subject line of the email.

Well, first, I would HOPE she was there. She is in Congress. That is where her job is. If she wasn't there, then she would be absent from her job. Most of us would be fired if we were absent from our jobs. And if we announced to everyone that we were "at our jobs" then people might begin to wonder why this was news.

But that being neither here nor there, the point I want to make here is this: Where was Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney of NY when Congress denied the Tea Party group who were to speak before Congress? Not only were they denied the venue AFTER being told they would have it, they were not even told until the day of. And the press was sent in the opposite direction of these Americans whose voice has been mocked and silenced and denigrated by a Democratic leD Congress on a DAILY basis.

Just another example of their hypocrisy and their audacity (yes, I went there) telling us all about it.

Before I get a ton of email about being insensitive to the cause, as I said last week, I don't think this is right not to allow American voices on issues that concern them. But this should be true of ALL American voices, not just the ones that will get them elected next time around.

Agree, disagree, it makes no difference. Just stop listening to these cretins. AVOID THE SPIN! STOP BEING SHEEP! And think for yourself. That is all I ask. Anyway, this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.

GOP 2012 Mess?

Former Gov. Mike Huckabee and Donald "You're Fired!" Trump have both decided not to run for the GOP nomination in 2012.

"They're all backing out," one person recently quipped to me. "Its all because Obama killed bin Laden. They're afraid to run against him because they won't have a chance."

First, Obama did not kill Usama bin Laden. SEAL Team Six killed bin Laden. It was a concerted effort over three Presidencies to find and take out this delusional, sick madman. Clinton tried, backed off when the first attempt failed. Then Bush directed concentrated resources to find him. And finally, Obama was President when it happened. He did not personally do the intelligence, fly the mission or pull the trigger.

It is certainly a plus that he got to tell the public that America's Number One bad guy was gone. But this one act cannot cover up all the negative he has done for this country. At least in the eyes of conservatives. (You all are welcome to comment and dispute this if you like.) And any true conservative would not balk at the challenge to stop him from continuing down this road.

In 2008, President Obama somehow got into his mind the absolutely erroneous idea that a 49% to 51% is a "mandate from the people" to go ahead with all his crazy programs and policies. He was decidedly slapped down on that notion with all the TEA party activity and the 2010 midterms. The country cannot allow this man to be unchallenged on a serious level in his bid for re-election. There is no telling how much he will believe a re-election win will be a new "mandate" for his policies.

Second, I would not like to think that anyone such as Mike Huckabee would fear running against the President. I would HOPE that no true conservative with the chance to run for the GOP nomination would back out because he or she was intimidated by the President being the one in office when bin Laden was taken out.

Let's face it. No matter who was President, the intel would still have been gathered. (It is absurd to think that our intelligence community would give up even if the President didn't give it high priority.) The order to follow up would still have been given. The approval to go in and take him out would still have happened. Even if Donald Duck or Rumsfeld or Cythia McKinney were sitting in the oval office. Because no intelligence liaison or Sect. of Defense or Joint Chief would have allowed a President to miss an opportunity (again).

So, for The Donald, I believe it was mere ploy (as it was in 1988 and 1992) and he is and always has been the consummate showman who will do what is needed for good PR. Irish author Brendan Behan once quipped, "All publicity is good, except an obituary notice." I am sure Trump is very familiar with this.

As for Gov. Huckabee, he said doesn't feel the sense that God has a nomination in mind. He said when supporters were encouraging him, he felt the love and commitment. But when he was alone, his inner voice differed. He said it best on his blog on HuckPAC website. "All the factors say GO, my heart says NO."

I think the 2012 election cannot be a cake walk for Obama. The death of Usama bin Laden cannot be the deciding factor for millions of Americans. The whole body of work this President has undertaken to steer this country in the wrong direction needs the attention of the American people and they need to speak out loud and stop being led like sheep by the left wing pundits, the liberal leaning mainstream media or the charismatic voice of a President.

American voters need to look deep inside themselves and see the reflection of the ideal America, the one where the American Dream still lives. And they need to then look at the facts of what Obama has done / is trying to do, and they need to make a choice.

The GOP cannot roll over as well. It needs a strong conservative leader who will not back away from the challenge of getting America back on track and getting Americans back to thinking for themselves instead of thinking like sheeple.

Agree or disagree, as usual, and it is fine by me. So long as I got you thinking about other things, looking at things in another light and closing off your ears to the PR spins of everyone out there (yes, even me) and doing some self reflection, then I have done my job. Because hey, this is just me, thinking out loud.

Little Pet Peeves that really bother me (Politically)

The TEA party started out as a group of Americans really ticked off with the US government for its over-reaching, power grabbing, un-Constitutional behaviour. Taxed Enough Already. And it grew into a bunch of Americans voicing their displeasure with the bloated, spend like a drunken sailor, more interested in special interests than protecting the interests of the public entity.

But then along came the naysayers. (Generally, the ones in power, behind the power and gain the most from keeping those in power.) They called the group racists. Which is hard to fathom when every race, gender and creed have taken up the "fed up with the Feds up" in DC rallying cry. They say its a bunch of American hating nazi's. Which is so ludicrous that it doesn't garner much more of a response from me except to say there is nothing MORE American than voicing your opinions about how our country is run. They have called the group anti-Government . . . okay, I'll give that one to them, so long as what they mean the government which is overspending, stomping on rights, ignoring the Constitution, ignoring the will of the people and sleeping with the special interests and unions. Then YEP, guilty on that one. (If you may recall, I am not a part of any TEA party organization, haven't even gone to a meeting of same. I am just an American that believes all AMERICANS deserve a voice.)

THEN came the media, who, as usual, just doesn't get it. They started referring to the TEA party as the Tea Party. It is not a political party. It is Americans standing up and letting their voices be heard. That it is from those who mostly identify themselves as conservative is a story in and of itself, as most conservatives have not traditionally done the grass roots, rally, sign carrying routine. But the mainstream media did their usual thing and leaned waaaaaay left on this one and fell in line with the liberal, Democrat agenda.

But that is just one thing. Another is that you cannot disapprove of President Obama without being called a racist or Uncle Tom. I am so tired of that card being played by politician and pundit alike. Obermann with his little chills running up his leg can go stuff it in a Spam can. I do not disagree with Obama because he is not white, I disagree with Obama because he is wrong. There is a great difference. If a white man, oh I don't know, like Clinton or Carter were doing the things Obama has done . . . oh wait, yeah they did a lot of stuff like Obama (just not as fast or as radical) and I totally disagreed with what they did. In fact, I don't like the President's policies hardly at all, but I still think Jimmy carter was the worst President in modern history. And he was my boss for a brief period of time and I am allowed to say that.

Another little political pet peeve of mine is the ridiculous way that every pundit thinks in black and white and has no shades of grey or coloring in between. We can have social responsibility but still be fiscally conservative. We can take care of those most in need (as out founding fathers envisioned America) while still cutting those off who take advantage of our generosity for their own greed. We can be big business friendly and still protect the rights of the workers. Without business, there are no jobs. Without skilled and educated people, there are no good workers. If we keep jobs in America, for Americans, we can reward those who make that possible. The American Dream is still alive. The American Spirit will not be torn asunder. So long as we all realize that we all have to live in this house.

I will share more in Political Pet Peeves Two. But for now, my fingers are tired, my back and leg is hurting and I need a break.

As usual, agree or disagree, that really doesn't matter to me. So long as I get you to think for yourselves, I've done my job. Because, heck, this is just me . . . Thinking out Loud.

"The Speech"

In just a short while, the President of the United States will come out and make a speech. It is called the State of the Union speech. He will be addressing Legislative Branch, the Judicial Branch, his own Executive Branch, the military and the American public. In ages past, this speech was to let the people in government, and thereby translated down to the people they represent, how the country is doing. It was a way to let them know what was being done to continue or correct the path America was taking. It was a speech about America.

But in recent decades, and most especially now in the age of the Internet and 24-hour news cycles, it has become something else. The people KNOW what the State of the Union is. They KNOW what is and is not working. They KNOW that those in charge really have no clue as to what they want. And even if they did, they weren't going to listen to a bunch of citizens who just can't grasp the concept of governing.

Of late, the speech has become just another chance in a long succession of such speeches to tell everybody who is to blame for their current troubles. Of late it has become both a political tool and a political barometer. It has become a way for politicians to tell more lies, make more promises they don't intend to keep, and show just how disconnected and clueless they truly are.

It has become a speech that even though . . .

Okay, got pulled away to deal with grandsons. And now the President's State of the Union Address is over. As I suspected, it fell way short of anything worthwhile. He spoke rhetoric, tried to convince the public he was more interested in bringing everyone in Congress together to work on the economy (didn't he say the stimulus / recovery trillions of dollars would do that?) and create jobs (which the only jobs the President or government can CREATE are government jobs, which just increases the size of government, does not spur growth and actually creates nothing but more spending).

Two years ago, the President was "handed a crisis." But what they libs and Dems won't say is that THEY created the crisis they love to blame George W. for. Now that the people have slapped them down this past November (and the months preceding), they want to play all nicey-nice. What hypocrisy.

But as usual, this is just one man's thoughts. I don't really care if you agree or disagree, I just want to to think for yourselves instead of mindlessly following what others tell you how to think. If I have done that, I have done my job. But, hey, this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.

Earmarks and other issues

Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) is right. Earmarks must stop. But the point of this, like many other issues, still eludes our lawmakers.

It is not simply the earmarks that are the problem. It is the whole process that is involved in earmarks. And if you are uncertain what earmarks are, here is a quick refresher.

Earmarks are the money legislation directed to specific states by specific lawmakers to bring money back to their districts and states, added onto bills that have nothing to do with the earmark in question. For instance, a bill is written to make trucker's hours lower so the roads are safer. A Congressman in Florida wants to have a turtle habitat built in his district. So, after the bill is voted on as for the trucker hours, he adds an addendum to the bill which is NOT debated NOR voted on. The bill then goes its normal route through the House and Senate. If approved, it goes to the President's desk for a signature. If the bill fails, the lawmaker can say he tried to get money for his constituents, but the evil [insert other party here] killed it. Which, he/she says is why you need to re-elect him/her and vote the [insert evil other party here again] needs to be voted out.

If, on the other hand, it makes it through to law, the money gets sent and the turtle habitat is then built and he/she can l;ay claim to bringing money and/or jobs to the district.

The problem, aside from the sleaziness of doing government business on the taxpayer's dime like this, is that it is how billions of $$$ are spent without any oversight.

The reason regular Americans (and by regular I mean NOT politicians) want these earmarks stopped is that many things are snuck past the people of this country without our knowledge, consent or desire.

The stimulus and the healthcare were two of the biggest loads of crap that did this in the recent history of this country. But it is something that happens ALL THE TIME. And this is what Americans object to. Its not just the occasional useless turtle habitat (or in the real case, a turtle crossing in Florida), it is the way government is being run.

Americans want accountability. From our Congress, our President and our Justice system. Americans want to know what those in Washington are doing. Not just with our money, but with our country. Americans want the secret backdoor meetings to stop. Americans want a window open on and a high intensity light to be shone on all the activities by our elected officials.

From the Cornhusker Kickback to the earmarks in legislation. How hard is it to tackle an issue of legislative necessity without all the add-ons and ridiculous debate that has nothing to do with anything. Stop the 'I'll-vote-for-your-casino-bill-in-Utah-if-you-vote-for-my-gay-rights-bill-in-Cleveland-and-only-if-we-can-combine-the-two-with-the-solar-panel-project-in-Des Moines' mentality.

If a bill is about regulating the housing industry, it should not include a path to citizenship for illegals. If is about approving a budget for the military it should not have anything in it about abortion. The latest mutation of the ages old earmark practice has become about social re-engineering of a country.

After the recent election, the people in Washington, and around the world, need to receive the correct message.

It was not about stopping the Democrat's agenda. It was not about putting Republicans back in power. It was not about a referendum on the President, Speaker Pelosi or any other high ranking politician.

Individually, it was about that. But overall it was about the re-assertion of the power of the American public. It was a proof of life that the American people are awake and not sitting idly by while individuals in our government, or governments and entities around the world, dictate what happens in this country. Although we are a representative republic and not a true democracy, the power is, and has always been, in the hands of the American people.

And this midterm election was about reminding everyone that the people can and will shape their own destiny. We don't need government in our lives telling when, why and for how long to go to the bathroom. We don't need government telling us how much we can make and what we should or shouldn't teach our children. We don't need government chose our healthcare provider or doctor or lawyer or lightbulb maker.

Government is there to be a central focus of our needs, not the other way around.

It is easy to see how they came to believe that we work for them. I mean we work for half a year just to pay into the taxes every year. (Some said it was April 9th this year, others say May 30th or June 8th.) And they spend MILLIONS and hundreds of MILLIONS to get a job that only pays thousands. So it is easy to see how they think WE owe THEM. But it is not the case. And America has spoken loud and clear. Whether through the TEA party (and not any organized version thereof) or through the vote on November 2nd, America has said, enough is enough. Stop the nonsense of overspending, taxing, earmarks, social engineering, free passes for illegal immigrants and all the other stuff you have been ramming down our throats for years. If you don't wise up, we'll vote you out, too!

Now, as usual, you can agree or disagree, and I can go on waxing on the topic if need be until I am understood, but it doesn't really matter what I think. What matters is that you wake up, are awake, and are able to see for yourself through the PR spin and fancy mumbo jumbo of people who really do not have OUR interests in heart no matter what they say. Think for yourself and I will have done my job. But hey, this is just me, Thinking Out Loud.
